Legislators Squeeze Silica Claims into Asbestos Bill Revived in Texas' Special Session

photo-7AUSTIN, Texas - After failing during the regular session, a bill aimed at limiting the type of asbestos claims filed in Texas has been re-introduced in a special session of the State Legislature and now includes a provision to place limitations on silica claims.
The redrafted and reconfigured version of the asbestos bill, which never made it to the Senate floor during the regular session, was introduced into the Legislature's Special Session on July 2 and passed easily though the House and Senate committees.
