State Legislators Add Silica Provision to Revived Asbestos Bill

AUSTIN, Texas - After failing during the regular session, a bill aimed at limiting the type of asbestos claims filed in Texas has been re-introduced in a special session of the State Legislature and now includes a provision to place limitations on silica claims.
According to a spokeswoman for Republican State Senator Kyle Janek, a re-drafted and reconfigured version of the asbestos bill, which never made it to the Senate floor during the regular session, is expected to be released and considered by Senate committee this afternoon.
