New Hampshire Insurance Commissioner Moves to Liquidate Silica Defendant's Insurer

CONCORD, N.H. - An insurance carrier that was ordered into rehabilitation earlier this year, causing one of its insureds to seek a 90-day stay of all silica claims pending against it, may now be forced to liquidate. In the Matter of the Rehabilitation of The Home Insurance Company, No. 03-E-0106 (N.H. Super. Ct., Merrimack Cty.).
According to a petition filed May 8 in New Hampshire's Merrimack County Superior Court, the state Commissioner of Insurance has requested an order placing the Home Insurance Company into liquidation.
