TITLE: "Radiographic Abnormalities Among Construction Workers Exposed to Quartz Containing Dust"

SUMMARY: A study aimed at measuring the extent of radiographic abnormalities among 1,339 construction workers exposed to quartz-containing respirable dust for an average of 19 years. The observed radiological abnormalities were determined by median results of the International Labour Organisation system using three certified b-readers. The researchers observed abnormalities of ILO category 1/0 or greater in more than 10 percent of the chest radiographs and profusion category of 1/1 or greater among 2.9 percent.
