PHILADELPHIA - A case management order governing general provisions and pleadings in the more than 100 silica products liability cases pending in Philadelphia has been entered by judges overseeing the litigation, which has been designated a 'mass tort' by common pleas court officials there. In Re: Silica Products Liability Litigation, March Term 2003, No. 0001 (Pa. Comm. Pleas, Philadelphia Cty.).
Silica Case Management Order No. 1, the first of several expected to be released by the court in the coming months, was signed May 2 by Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge James J. Fitzgerald III and Coordinating Judge Norman Ackerman. …
