A defendant in several silica cases pending in Mississippi moved to temporarily stay all claims pending against the company on grounds that its insurer has been placed into rehabilitation.
In motions filed April 3 in eight pending Mississippi silica cases, Louis M. Gerson Co., Inc., requested a 90-day stay while the state of New Hampshire proceeds with the rehabilitation of one of Gerson's insurers, The Home Insurance Company.
Home Insurance was placed into voluntary rehabilitation on March 3 by order of New Hampshire's Commissioner of Insurance.
