WILMINGTON, Del. - A Delaware woman who claims she is seriously debilitated as a result of her exposure to silica at an E.I. DuPont de Neumours plant has been awarded compensation for her disputed silica-related disease. Williams v. E.I. DuPont de Nemours, No. 1176205 (Del. IAB).
Wanda Williams was awarded permanent impairment benefits by a state Industrial Accident Board on Feb. 5, despite conflicting expert testimony indicating that she no longer suffered from her previously diagnosed sarcoidosis and was likely impaired not because she was exposed to silica, but because she is obese.
