Halliburton Settlement to Include Provision for Silicosis Claims

HOUSTON - Silicosis claims will be compensated as part of a nearly $4 billion global settlement between oil services giant Halliburton and the hundreds of thousands of plaintiffs who have sued the company for asbestos-related injuries.
According to sources, a preliminary figure for silicosis claims and criteria for receiving compensation from the settlement trust have been reached, but are not yet finalized. Initial figures for silicosis claims are estimated at $3,500 per claimant, sources said.
