MDL Judge Orders Plaintiffs' Law Firm to Pay $8,250 in Sanctions

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - A plaintiffs' law firm sanctioned as part of Judge Janis Graham Jack's recent 249-page order regarding jurisdiction and expert testimony in MDL 1553 has been ordered to pay more than $8,000 to defense counsel in the litigation. Alexander v. Aearo, et al., No. 03-533 (S.D. Texas).

Judge Jack issued the order July 15, denying a request by the law firm of O'Quinn, Laminack & Pirtle for a hearing on the sanctions award. The judge gave the law firm until Aug. 12 to pay $8,250 to defense liaison counsel, who will distribute the funds.
