Defendants Petition California Supreme Court to Review Component Parts Decision Against Silica Suppliers

LOS ANGELES — Defendants in a silica action have asked the California Supreme Court to review an intermediate appellate court decision that found a trial court had erred in applying the component parts doctrine to bar claims against two companies that supplied silica to the plaintiff’s employer.
According to the court’s online docket, the defendants filed the petition on July 23, a little more than one month after the Second District Court of Appeal issued its decision in favor of a former sandblaster.
