Environmental Group Backs Complaint Against Manufacturer of Products It Says Contain Chemical Lead

LOS ANGELES –– Heartland Products Inc. has asked a federal court to throw out a lead exposure suit filed against the company, contending that it is exempt from California’s Proposition 65 warning requirement.

In a May 27 opposition brief, however, the Environmental Research Center backed its suit, telling the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California that the term “employee carries a broad definition under Proposition 65.”

In its original complaint, the Environmental Research Center contends that Heartland Products has manufactured and sold products that contain chemical lead. The complaint specifically named Heartland Products Inc. Uber Greens, Heartland …
