Defendants File Petition for Review of Component Parts Decision with Calif. Supreme Court




SAN FRANCISCO –– Several defendants have asked the California Supreme Court to review a recent ruling holding that the component parts doctrine does not shield a supplier from liability where a plaintiff allegedly suffered a direct injury from using a product as intended.

According to the intermediate appellate court’s online docket, the California 2nd District Court of Appeal denied the petition for rehearing on April 15. Counsel for the defendants subsequently filed a petition for review in the state Supreme Court on April 30. The California Supreme Court received the Court of Appeal record on May 5.
