USPS Asks Federal Court to Dismiss Public Trust Claims in Dispute Over Sale of 'Hazardous' Building

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The U.S. Postal Service has asked a federal court to dismiss public trust claims asserted by opponents of the service's plan to sell what it maintains is an unsafe and unhealthy building in Stamford, Conn.
The USPS filed its reply brief Feb. 5, supplementing its motion to dismiss two counts in a suit for injunctive relief brought by two non-profit plaintiffs and a post office customer who are attempting to block the sale and partial demolition of the 1916 “Atlantic Street Station,” that they say has historical and cultural value.
