JACKSON, Miss. – A federal judge in Mississippi has declined jurisdiction and remanded to state court a legal malpractice lawsuit filed by 84 silica plaintiffs against the O'Quinn Law Firm and other former counsel.
Judge Daniel P. Jordan III of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi ruled Jan. 15 that civil conspiracy allegations by all plaintiffs, including an Alabama citizen, against the defendant lawyers, including an Alabama citizen, was sufficient to defeat the federal court's diversity jurisdiction.
