OSHA Extends Public Comment Period for Proposed Silica Exposure Rule




WASHINGTON, D.C. — The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration has extended the public comment period for its Proposed Rulemaking on Occupational Exposure to Crystalline Silica from Dec. 11 to Jan. 27.

OSHA announced the extended comment period Oct. 25, saying it came in response to requests from persons who still wish to submit written comments.

The agency’s notice of proposed rulemaking was announced on Aug. 23, but wasn’t published in the Federal Register until Sept. 12.

OSHA said it has also extended for 30 days the deadline to submit notice of an intent to appear at informal public hearings …
