$765 Million Settlement Proposed in NFL Players’ Suit Over Concussion Injuries

PHILADELPHIA — A federal judge said today that National Football League players and owners have agreed to a $765 million settlement in the multidistrict proceedings arising from concussion-related injuries to players.
Judge Anita B Brody of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania announced the results of court-ordered mediation in an Aug. 29 order modifying a prior protective order to allow for the settlement to be announced.
The judge noted that the court still has to rule on the fairness, reasonableness and adequacy of the settlement before a final judgment can issue.
