OSHA Cites Spectrum Machine for Failing to Protect Workers from Lead and Copper Exposures

RAVENNA, Ohio — The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has proposed $188,300 in fines for Spectrum Machine Inc. following a January inspection in which workers were found to be at risk for exposure to lead and copper, among other allegations.
OSHA announced the penalties Aug. 7, noting that the Ohio-based maker of industrial bearing parts has 15 days to contest the penalties.
OSHA also noted that Spectrum was cited in 2006 for lead exposure violations at the company’s Streetboro, Ohio, facility. Spectrum has approximately 50 employees at its Streetboro and Ravenna, Ohio, sites, according to the agency.
