Summary: This study, which was undertaken by researchers from the Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), among others, examined the relationship between exposure to crystalline silica and silicosis mortality. The researchers analyzed data from six occupational cohorts that revealed 170 silicosis-related deaths, ultimately determining that mortality rates increased significantly in proportion to increased exposure years for two groups - 0 to 0.99 mg/m(3)-years and those exposed to greater than 28.1 …
