OSHA Announces Emphasis Program to Protect Workers from Isocyanate Exposure

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has initiated a “National Emphasis Program” of outreach and worksite inspections to protect workers from the hazards of isocyanate exposure.
The agency announced the program June 25, noting that it develops such programs to emphasize safety efforts on specific industries for three-year periods.
In this case, the program will target isocyanate hazards in industries that use the compounds in the manufacture or application of paints and coatings, polyurethane foam, spandex fibers, insulation, car seats, furniture, foam mattresses, adhesives and similar products.
