Conn. High Court Declines to Identify Supervisor as Employer’s Alter Ego in Dispute Over Workers’ Comp Exception

HARTFORD, Conn. — The Connecticut Supreme Court has ruled that the duties of a night supervisor are not sufficient to render the individual the defendant employer’s alter ego or allow an injured worker to pursue remedies outside the workers’ compensation scheme.

In opinion delivered June 25 by Chief Justice Chase T. Rogers, the high court unanimously affirmed summary judgment awarded to Flexo Converters U.S.A. Inc. in a personal injury action.

Plaintiff Rajanikant Patel sued Flexo for damages resulting ftom injuries sustained while he was attempting to dislodge a bag from a machine at defendant’s paper bag manufacturing facility.
