NEWARK, N.J. — A federal judge has granted summary judgment to General Binding Corp. (NYSE: ACCO) after concluding that a school employee’s alleged injury did not result from a design defect in the company’s laminating machine or a failure to warn.
Chief Judge Jerome B. Simandle of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey granted General’s motion on May 10, and also dismissed a claim for loss of consortium by plaintiff Christine Mays’ husband, noting that Mays had not opposed summary judgment on negligence and manufacturing defect claims.
