Special Docket Created in Ohio for Flood of Silica Claims

CLEVELAND - Between 200 and 300 silica-related personal injury complaint have been filed recently in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas, prompting officials there to create a docket to handle adjudication of the cases. In re: Cuyahoga County Silicosis Cases, Special Docket No. 73958 (Ohio Comm. Pls., Cuyahoga Cty.)
All silica cases filed in the Ohio trial court will be transferred to the silicosis docket, which was established by order in May and created as an arm of the court's asbestos docket.
There are currently some 35,000 asbestos lawsuits pending in Cuyahoga County, according to court sources.
