HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A former trackman for the Norfolk Southern Railway Co. (NYSE: NSC) alleges in a recently filed lawsuit that his non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma was caused by workplace exposure to pesticides, diesel exhaust, creosote and other toxins.

Oscar Varney filed the action against Norfolk Southern April 8 in the Circuit Court of Cabell County, W.Va.

Varney says he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in February 2011. He was employed by the railroad from 1974 to 2011 as a trackman, machine operator and foreman, “and was injured while working in the course and scope of his employment and performing his …
