OSHA Cites ESmoke for Failing to Protect Workers From Nicotine Exposure

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has proposed $184,500 in penalties against New Jersey-based eSmoke LLC for alleged safety violations in the manufacture of the company’s electronic cigarettes.
OSHA announced the citations March 27, saying it found 20 safety and health violations during a recent inspection of the company’s Lakewood, N.J., plant.
The agency issued two citations. The first was for two willful violations, including failure to enforce the use of protective gloves and eye protection for workers handling corrosive chemicals and concentrated nicotine. A second citation was issued for what OSHA alleged …
