NEW YORK — A New York trial court has denied summary judgment to the estate of a homeowner blamed, in part, for a house fire in which the plaintiff firefighter was burned, saying the estate failed to show that there is no link between the homeowner’s alleged statutory violations and the plaintiff’s injuries.

Justice Robert J. McDonald of the Queens County (N.Y.) Supreme Court issued his decision March 14 in the action brought by Fire Lt. Michael Schmidt against the Estate of Leon Krzewina and others.
