La-Z-Boy Worker Denied Benefits for Alleged Chemical Exposure from Repair Shop

WILMINGTON, Del. — Delaware’s Supreme Court has denied compensation to a former office worker at a La-Z-Boy Inc. (NYSE: LZB) furniture shop who alleged that exposure to chemicals from an adjacent repair facility caused occupational asthma and other ailments.
The Supreme Court on Feb. 12 affirmed a decision by the Delaware Superior Court that the state’s Industrial Accident Board was entitled to adopt the opinion of the employer’s medical toxicologist, rather than the claimant’s experts, in finding no link between the claimed symptoms and any workplace chemical exposure.
