CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A federal judge has granted partial summary judgment to Schlumberger Technology Corp. (NYSE: SLB) and a second defendant in a “fracking” chemical injury case, ruling that negligence claims by a gas drilling site worker are barred by West Virginia’s Workers’ Compensation Statute.
Judge John P. Bailey of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia reserved ruling Jan. 31 on the sole remaining claim against Schlumberger and SOS Staffing Services Inc., and dismissed Consol Energy Inc., which was not named in the “deliberate intent” cause of action.
