Federal Safety Officials Fine Illinois Firm $59,200 for Lead Violations

ODELL, Ill. — An Illinois restoration firm has been notified of $59,200 in proposed fines for exposing workers to up to 40 times allowable lead levels, federal worker safety officials announced Nov. 1.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said it was proposing the fines for 22 serious health violations it found during inspections of the History Construction Management LLC facility in Odell, Ill.

The OSHA notice said 15 of the 22 alleged violations related to OSHA’s lead standard, and allege a failure to implement work controls to minimize exposure, a failure to collect full shift personal lead samples …
