Tenneco Plating Workers Allege Chromium Exposure From Inadequate Safety Measures

HARTWELL, Ga. — Workers at a Tenneco Automotive Operating Co. (NYSE: TEN) metal plating shop in Georgia allege in a recent state-court complaint that they have been exposed to harmful levels of hexavalent chromium because of an inadequate and defective ventilation system.
The eight automotive plating workers named in the Nov. 13 complaint filed in Hart County (Ga.) Superior Court allege that they have suffered continuing visible exposure despite assurances from Tenneco and other defendants that repairs had been made and air samples showed safe levels of the known carcinogen.
