NEW YORK — An artist who leased workspace in New York’s Greenwich Village failed to persuade a judge that her neurological illness was linked to manganese fumes emanating from a nearby pottery studio.
New York County Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey K. Oing awarded summary judgment Sept. 28 to plaintiff Kathleen Gushue’s landlord and the pottery studio, ruling that she failed to allege precisely whether she was claiming to be afflicted with Parkinson’s disease or some similar condition that could be — or could not be — causatively linked to manganese exposure.
