Federal Judge Puts Diacetyl Coverage Case on 4-Month Discovery Track

ATLANTA — A Georgia federal judge has approved a four-month discovery track after reviewing a joint submission by Sensient Flavors LLC and its insurer, Columbia Casualty Co. (NYSE: CNA), which are engaged in a dispute over coverage for an underlying workplace diacetyl-exposure lawsuit.
Judge Robert L. Vining Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia said in his Sept. 10 scheduling order that the parties can request an extension if, at some point, they determine that additional time is needed for discovery. Sensient had asked for an eight-month discovery schedule.
