FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Federal safety officials have imposed a $480,000 fine on a South Carolina-based environmental remediation firm accused of failing to protect its workers from overexposure to lead. In re Welch Group Environmental LLP, Citation Nos. 315354563, et seq. (OSHA).
The fines were included in a series of citations issued to Welch Group Environmental LLP by the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety & Health Administration in January, after inspections at a Delray Beach, Fla., shooting center that had retained Welch to clean and reclaim lead from its shooting operation.
