$750,000 Plaintiff Verdict in Mississippi Silica Trial

PORT GIBSON, Miss. - Jurors in Claiborne County (Miss.) Circuit Court reached a verdict for plaintiff Marvin Anderson late Friday afternoon in the second silica case to go to verdict in Mississippi this week, HarrisMartin is reporting. Anderson v. Mine Safety Appliances., et al., No. 2007-96 (Miss. Cir. Ct., Claiborne Cty.).
Jurors awarded a total of $750,000 in damages, according to sources, but found sole trial defendant Mine Safety Appliances Co. only 10 percent liable for Anderson's injuries, so any final judgment would be significantly reduced, sources reported.
