ANDOVER, Mass. - Region 1 of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has announced a $44,000 fine for a Massachusetts company after a worker was injured in an explosion OSHA attributed to deficient welding procedures and safety practices. In Re SPS New England (OSHA).
OSHA announced the action against contractor SPS New England of Salisbury, Mass., on Dec. 14.
The agency said an SPS employee was welding on a pontoon boat when vapors in the boat's interior ignited, injuring the worker.
