ELLISVILLE, Miss. - A Mississippi judge has entered judgment against American Optical Corp. for $2.5 million, half of a $5 million verdict jurors awarded to a plaintiff who suffered silica-related injuries that AO was found 10 percent responsible for causing. McGilberry v. Pangborn Corp., No. 2007-16-CV5 (Miss. Cir. Ct., Jones Cty., Dist. 1.).
Jones County Circuit Court Judge Billy Joe Landrum entered the final judgment Oct. 15, determining that American Optical was jointly and severally liable for 50 percent of the $5 million verdict jurors returned in favor of John McGilberry on Aug. 9.
