HOUSTON - Defendants in the Texas state court silica MDL have filed a motion requesting information on how many plaintiffs remain on the coordinated docket and which of the existing cases are supported by medical documentation of a silica-related injury. In Re: Texas State Silica Products Liability Litigation, No. 2004-70000 (Texas Dist. Ct., Harris Cty.).
The motion, filed March 26 in Harris County District Court, seeks detailed information about the state's silica cases so that the Texas Legislature can assess whether four-year-old changes in state medical criteria laws for silica claims have accomplished their intended goals.
