New Silica Complaint Filed in Texas by Former Sandblaster

HOUSTON - A Texas man has filed a new lawsuit in state court, alleging that he developed a silica-related injury while painting and sandblasting at numerous sites throughout the state. Pierce v. Specialty Sand Company, et al., No. 2010-04423 (Texas Dist. Ct., Harris Cty.).
David Shawn Pierce filed the complaint Jan. 22 in Harris County District Court, contending that the various defendants named in the suit knew that silica-containing abrasives were unreasonably dangerous when used as intended in blasting operations.
