MSA Moves for Judgment in Case Brought by Lab Tech's Widow

OAKLAND, Calif. - Two weeks after a judge denied its motion to compel additional product identification, Mine Safety Appliances has moved for summary judgment challenging the alleged link between its product and the silica-related death of a former Procter & Gamble lab technician. Smith v. A. Teichert & Son Inc., et al., No. RG05221212 (Calif. Super. Ct., Alameda Cty.).
MSA's motion was filed Nov. 24 in Alameda County Superior Court and follows a comment by the court that the defendant had already met its burden under California law to show that the plaintiffs' causes of action may have no merit …
