NEW ORLEANS - Robert Jowers has responded to defendants' opening brief to the 5th Circuit by defending the trial court's interpretation of applicable state law and the jury's decision to award $1.7 million in punitive damages. Jowers v. BOC Group Inc., et al., No. 09-60396 (5th Cir.).
Jowers, who was awarded a total of $2.42 million after a March 2008 verdict in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, filed his appellee's brief with supplemental materials on Nov. 19.
