PORT GIBSON, Miss. - A Mississippi state court judge has denied a motion for a new trial in a silica case that ended with verdicts in favor of three defendants accused of causing a former sandblaster's lung condition. Westrope v. Pangborn Corp., et al., No. 2007-38 (Miss. Cir. Ct., Claiborne Cty.).
Judge Lamar Pickard of the Claiborne County Circuit Court denied the motion and entered final judgment in the case on Sept. 30, rejecting the assertion by plaintiff James Westrope that several errors were made during the week-long trial.
