Pulmosan, MSA Get Defense Verdicts in La. Silica Case
August 28, 2009
JENNINGS, La. - A Louisiana jury has returned a defense verdict for Pulmosan Safety Equipment Corp. in a case brought by the surviving family members of a former shipyard worker whose death the plaintiffs attributed to silica exposure. Henry, et al. v. SBA Shipyard Inc., et al., No. C-55-98 (La. Cir. Ct., Jefferson Davis Prsh.).
The Jefferson Davis Parish District Court jury found Aug. 26 that Henry Wise died not from silicosis - as was alleged in his heirs' wrongful death complaint - but by a stroke he suffered prior to his death in December 2007, sources told HarrisMartin Publishing.
