RALEIGH, N.C. - The North Carolina Court of Appeals has affirmed a ruling for a furniture company that denied a widow's claim that her husband's exposure to workplace chemicals and dust caused his death from multiple organ failure. Johnson v. Thomasville Furniture Co., No. COA08-610 (N.C. Ct. App.).
In an opinion issued on Feb. 17 by Chief Judge John C. Martin, the North Carolina Court of Appeals credited evidence that levels of chemicals and irritants at a Thomasville Furniture Co. plant were within allowable limits and did not cause Johnny James Johnson to develop a compensable occupational disease.
