JACKSON, Miss. — The family of a Mississippi sandblaster and ironworker who died from lung disease has filed a wrongful death action against 19 silica industry defendants and up to 500 “Does,” alleging that his death was caused by workplace exposure to crystalline silica. Holland, et al. v. Pangborn Corp., et al., No. 5:121-cv-100 DEB-JMR (S.D. Miss.).

The family of David Holland Sr. filed the action in Clairborne County (Miss.) Circuit Court March 8, but defendants removed it to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi July 18 on the basis of complete diversity despite an assertion …
