Court Sets Final Deadline for La. Vioxx Plaintiffs to File Paperwork

NEW ORLEANS - Louisiana plaintiffs who claim they suffered cardiovascular problems as a result of taking Vioxx must file their Plaintiff Profile Forms and other related documents by mid-September, the judge overseeing the federal Vioxx MDL has ordered. In Re: Vioxx Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 1657 (E.D. La.).
Judge Eldon E. Fallon of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana said in the June 14 order that a final 90-day extension was agreed upon by plaintiffs' and defendants' liaison counsel "to accommodate those who were displaced or otherwise inconvenienced because of Hurricane Katrina."
