Survey: Patients Wary of Seeking Pain Relief Due to Drug Safety Concerns

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands - A recent global survey has found that confusion and concern about the benefits and safety of painkiller drugs is leading many people with musculoskeletal disease or arthritis to try and manage their pain without medication.
The Arthritis Action Group (AAG), an organization of European physicians and academics, presented results from the 'Insights into Pain Relief' survey in Amsterdam this summer during the annual European League Against Rheumatism conference.
The group surveyed perceptions of 1,204 patients with chronic pain problems and 604 primary care physicians in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Mexico and Australia.
