Study Shows NSAIDs Increase Death Risk for Heart Attack Survivors

BOSTON - A recent study has found that heart attack survivors who are subsequently treated with Cox-2 inhibitor arthritis drugs or certain other non-selective NSAIDs have an increased risk of dying or suffering a second heart attack.
The research findings appear in the June 20 issue of the American Heart Association's journal Circulation. Similar results were first presented at the 2005 meeting of the American Heart Association, but the latest study shows an even higher correlation between NSAID use and a second heart attack.
