PSC Seeks Remand Procedure to Improve Vioxx MDL Trial Efficiency

NEW ORLEANS - The Plaintiffs' Steering Committee for the federal Vioxx MDL has moved to implement a procedure for the rapid remand of certain cases to enable them to reach trial more efficiently in their originating forums and produce instructive verdict results. In Re: Vioxx Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 1657 (E.D. La.).
The PSC filed the motion on March 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana and recommended three Vioxx MDL cases for immediate remand. The three actions are nearly trial-ready, and having them tried in their original federal forums would provide a broader …
