NEW ORLEANS - A Louisiana woman who suffered a heart attack after taking Bextra has filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of state residents who have also allegedly been injured as a result of taking the drug. Aiola v. Pfizer, Inc., No. 05-1207 (E.D. La.).

According to a lawsuit filed March 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Bextra manufacturer Pfizer, Inc. has long been aware of the dangers associated with its COX-2 inhibitor, but failed to warn of such side effects and to date has refused to take the drug off the market.
