OXFORD, Miss. - The daughter of a Mississippi woman has sued the manufacturers and distributors of the arthritis drug Celebrex, alleging that it caused her mother's death. Shearer, et al. v. Pharmacia, Inc., et al., No. 05-18 (N.D. Miss.).
In a complaint filed Jan. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi, Judy Shearer alleges that Pfizer Inc., Pharmacia, Monsanto and G.D. Searle & Co. marketed and sold Celebrex, and continue to do so, despite knowing that the drug can cause injury and/or death.
