NEW ORLEANS - A Louisiana woman who suffered a heart attack while taking Celebrex has sued manufacturer Pfizer Inc., claiming it had a duty to warn of cardiovascular risks associated with the arthritis drug. Ward v. Pfizer, Inc., No. 04-3469 (E.D. La.).
Plaintiff Gloria Ward filed the complaint Dec. 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. The lawsuit is one of the first personal injury lawsuits filed since Pfizer announced Dec. 17 that an ongoing study of colon cancer patients revealed a link between Celebrex and cardiovascular injury.
